Police reform in Faryab
The number of eupol police advicers in Meymaneh is four.
Eupol (European Police Mission) Afghanistan started 30th June 2007; Norway is participating with police advisers. The duration is set to 3 years. Afghan ownership of the project is underlined.
EU will assist GOA in implementing police reform on local, regional and provincial level.
Police training builds on the “German model” and is focused on coordination and, integration between the actors.
IPCB (International Police Coordination Board) and its secretariat will be important actors in this coordination.
ISAF and prts will be vital cooperation partners on several levels (incl. Logistic etc)
High priority will be placed on human rights, democratisation, anti corruption, anti narcotics, regional development, institution building and budget support.
Bilateral and multilateral projects will continue but within the frame of the new ESDP operation.
